Alexandra Presler, MPAS, PA-C

Psychiatric Physician Assistant

Alexandra Presler is a certified psychiatric physician assistant who specializes in anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma/post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Her approach is founded in a desire not to guide, but to come alongside her patients. She values asking questions that help individuals foster a deeper sense of self-compassion and self-trust, ultimately accessing wisdom from within themselves.

Alexandra uses psychiatric medication minimally and believes that the best outcomes are achieved with a combination of medication and therapy. One her favorite parts of her job is gradually helping people come off medication when appropriate. She also uses acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) as a therapeutic approach to provide a mindfulness-based and person-centered treatment plan.

Alexandra graduated from Northern Arizona University’s physician assistant program in 2015 and earned her bachelor’s degree in physicology from the University of Arizona.

Alexandra’s work is motivated by curiosity, compassion, and a deep respect for her fellow humans. Her greatest fulfillment comes from witnessing someone feel empowered enough to make a positive change in their life and subsequently reap the rewards.

Outside of work, Alexandra enjoys photographing flowers. She feels capturing the photo allows her to sink into the moment and truly appreciate the beauty all around. “Earth laughs in flowers” — Ralph Waldo Emmerson.
